Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a special celebration. It is a time when we think of family, friends and home, for me that includes my family and friends in Plymouth – the home of Thanksgiving.

Much of Thanksgiving is about gathering together to celebrate all that is good in our world but sometimes it is nice to take a quiet moment to yourself.

Breakfast is my quiet time of day to sit and watch the sun coming up and enjoy some of my favorite things including a daily reading from
Sarah ban Breathnach's Gratitude series.

Placecards are a fun decoration. The feathers are easily made by cutting strips of pretty printed papers and folded them up to make feathers, tucked behind a circle creates a cutie of a turkey shape.

Recently I converted to shabby chic beach décor and now that everything is shades of white it gives more reasons to think about what to keep and why they are special.

This is my entry table, the first thing you see coming in and the last stop for car keys when running out the door.

All these little trinkets are the reminders of everything I am thankful for, an angel to watch over my travels, family photos and the beach.

Always nice to bring a hostess gift when visiting, this is my creation for friends who have decorated their home in lovely autumn shades of gold and burgundy.

Thank you cards seem to have gone out of favor in this era of instant communication but saying thank you is the nicest compliment you can give your host, so don’t forget to put it in writing.

Thank you to Cindy’s
Romantic Home for hosting the Show & Tell
and Susan for hosting
Tablescape Thursdays and all the bloggers who share their inspirational ideas
Friends like
Linda who gifted me with French laundry hangers
Melissa’s Inspired Room with fun suggestions on how to make more of what we have
Steve Irwin for all the legacy he’s left in
wildlife warriors

Thank you to Tattered Angels for providing the Jumbo Leaf Stamps, Chipboard Shapes, and the wonderful imaginative colours in the Glimmer Mist range that brighten everything they touch.

Such a true sentiment. Your home has a comforting soul... I imagine that's a large part of the reason.

Hi Mandy, thanks for stopping by. Sorry I havn't dropped a line sooner but i have been having internet dramas. I agree vintage rulers are soo much nicer. You might try a large centre like Woollongabba or Padington Antique Centre as they have so many stall holders you might find some nice ones. Ebay is also good and you can get lovely advertising ones that have adds for lollies etc on them. unfortunatly i don't have any at the moment. If i see any i will let you know. Your home is looking lovely. I love the pictures. cheers Katherine

Your home is so gorgeous. And, I must say, your friends very blessed, not only by your friendship, but by your incredible present for them. I can not get past your harmony art work. Will you please tell me more about it? I am completely enthralled.

Mandy, what I like so much about this post is how you are celebrating the quiet moments by treating yourself. That is so imporant, and I think people forget to do that. Love all of your special touches. They made such a cute tablescape. And I like your conversion to white. Since this is my first time to your blog, I'm not sure what it looked like before, but I like it now.

Love your special treasures you are taking to friends and the fact that there are things you decided to keep of your own treasures that are meaningful to you. I like things around me that have memories, too. Of course, I am no minimalist... but I do have my favorite treasures. I try to only surround myself with things I truly love. It's worked for me for years.

Love to you on Thanksgiving and here's hoping you also have a Happy Tablescape Thursday...

XO,

Sheila :-)
