Off Line

Moving house and may be out of contact for a couple of weeks.
In this era of modern telecommunications we can You Tube from the top of Everest or the Moon but only if you give 10-15 working days advance notice and have someone spending a whole day at home waiting for the technician.

Suggestions on how to make the new place feel like home or magically get things out of boxes and into place would be gratefully appreciated. Or maybe craft furnishings out of cardboard boxes?

Jenny – click the email me button (under my photo on the right) and let me know how to reach you at your new place.

This is the view from the local railway station this morning - not bad eh!

My new beach walk.

The best thing we found in the process of moving was that Yankee Candles have arrived down under or to bayside Brisbane at least.

Find them at Candle Wick House, 16 Doig St., Cleveland QLD

Hi Mandy good luck with your move to a new home. I have lived now for 20 years at my place and I am completely out of habit to give you good advice.I guess there are not really shortcuts. I would do every day one room starting with the kitchen!

Good luck with the move. As far as advice... kick "rules" to the curb. Your home must work for you so make accommodations that will suit your needs. If that means a place to write in the bathroom (heehee) or turning a dining room into a studio, so be it. Don't be afraid to defy convention.
Can't wait to see your new place. And I love the photo on this post! So cute!

Good luck with the move. I feel like I have not unpacked in years, always on the move. Love that picture, very cute. I agree with Sara, no rules, I've been tempted to turn my living room into a bedroom!

oh I hope it's going well, I think my only tip is to get the internet going so you can lose youself haha! blimey it drives me mad that these people are so slow, it was the same when we moved here...technology and if it's Telstra, well I just hope they are quick

I still don't feel unpacked after a year...one thing I did was get one living room straight so at least you can sit down with a drink at the end of the day

Good Luck with the move...and your new nest. As far as ideas, when I move I purge, I purge as much as I can, so when I unpack it is only the necessary items, and making a new house a comfy nest, I would start with unpacking your room, make sure you have a nice place to rest your weary head at the end of the day, nothing worse then laying on the carpet! :)

That is not a bad view AT ALL! I hope your move goes smoothly. Whenever I move, I do the bedroom first, then the bathroom. Then I order in Chinese or pizza or some other take-out, and I eat and shower and climb into bed. Next day I do the kitchen. A girl has her priorities - after lugging things all day, all I really want is to be fed, bathed, and tucked in!

Good luck with your move and new home!! Fill it with what you LOVE and all will fall together!!
Funny- there actually was an entire site on creating furniture from cardboard...mmmmm...

...guess that would work with the advice above if you really loved cardboard!
