Seeds of the day

Happy New Year and Happy Sky Watch Friday. Click {the text} to follow the link to hundreds of bloggers all over the world sharing a peek into the skies at their place. Changed to new blogger and can't get the link option to work on pictures - can anyone help with a solution?

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant." Robert Louis Stevenson

While out searching for a pretty sunset for New Year's I passed lots of wildlife including this very big kangaroo. He was a big boy possibly 6ft and pretty comfortable watching over the view

including his little family who where just a little bit skittish.

 Have a great weekend.

Happy Holidays

Sky Watch Friday to catch views of the sky from all over the world.

Happy Holidays to my friends from all over, am off to the beach for a couple of weeks for the down under version of a white Christmas.

"You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain to view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. "

Magical Talisman

"Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air. " John Quincy Adams

Sharing a favorite beach for evening walks with the fast disappearing light turning the sky pretty shades of pink.

Visit
Sky Watch Friday to see what colours are on show with hundreds of bloggers from all over the world.

In the spirit of sharing a little magic there is a give away happening over on the Tattered Angels web site linked to an announcement of good things they have hatching.

I was experimenting with Tattered Angels embossed chipboard that has a lovely white base, using clear gloss on the raised parts creates a pretty contrast to the misted colours.

Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and Happy Sky Watch Friday it has been pretty cloudy in these parts.

"If future generations are to remember us more with gratitude than sorrow, we must achieve more than just the miracles of technology. We must also leave them a glimpse of the world as it was when it was created, not just as it looked when we got through with it." Lyndon B. Johnson

Click photo to enlarge the view of a quiet waterway complete with a little boat ready for a row. Too funny when I pulled the car over to take this photo, the radio piped up with the song I speak to the sky, funny about that.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a special celebration. It is a time when we think of family, friends and home, for me that includes my family and friends in Plymouth – the home of Thanksgiving.

Much of Thanksgiving is about gathering together to celebrate all that is good in our world but sometimes it is nice to take a quiet moment to yourself.

Breakfast is my quiet time of day to sit and watch the sun coming up and enjoy some of my favorite things including a daily reading from
Sarah ban Breathnach's Gratitude series.

Placecards are a fun decoration. The feathers are easily made by cutting strips of pretty printed papers and folded them up to make feathers, tucked behind a circle creates a cutie of a turkey shape.

Recently I converted to shabby chic beach décor and now that everything is shades of white it gives more reasons to think about what to keep and why they are special.

This is my entry table, the first thing you see coming in and the last stop for car keys when running out the door.

All these little trinkets are the reminders of everything I am thankful for, an angel to watch over my travels, family photos and the beach.

Always nice to bring a hostess gift when visiting, this is my creation for friends who have decorated their home in lovely autumn shades of gold and burgundy.

Thank you cards seem to have gone out of favor in this era of instant communication but saying thank you is the nicest compliment you can give your host, so don’t forget to put it in writing.

Thank you to Cindy’s
Romantic Home for hosting the Show & Tell
and Susan for hosting
Tablescape Thursdays and all the bloggers who share their inspirational ideas
Friends like
Linda who gifted me with French laundry hangers
Melissa’s Inspired Room with fun suggestions on how to make more of what we have
Steve Irwin for all the legacy he’s left in

Thank you to Tattered Angels for providing the Jumbo Leaf Stamps, Chipboard Shapes, and the wonderful imaginative colours in the Glimmer Mist range that brighten everything they touch.

Just like Sky Watch Friday, you never know what the 100s of bloggers from all over might find to show you this week. My contribution is simply a nice day for a beach walk. Click to enlarge

Nothing says northern NSW like Pandanus trees and big bananas.

Don't forget Steve Irwin Day this week, celebrating his achievements and legacy.

This week I am thankful for friends like JoJo Caramel who was kind enough to send some lovely French postcards to work on an altered book project and another page in my bucket list devoted to the needlecraft of Lesage. And thanks to Tattered Angels for the fun chipboard shapes and amazing colour range.

“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once” Albert Einstein

My favorite time of day is early morning walks to enjoy the sunshine and finding a new pretty sky to enjoy.

Quality Days

“To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.” Henry David Thoreau

Guess that makes artists of all the Sky Watch Friday fans showing of their view to the sky, always entertaining to see how something as simple as the sky we all share can provide so many different moods. Click to enlarge.

Often wildlife find their way into sky photos. When deciding on this photo thought I should check with a bird watcher for a name of the owl sitting on the end of the pier, someone would be sure to ask.

Was very funny when they told me that it was a very rare sighting in Australia of the black plastic owl decoy, designed to frighten off other birds from bothering fishermen pulling up at the end of the day. We don’t see them every day around these parts.

Making all your days a quality day is a challenge, there is so much to distract us. Working on my bucket list pages gives me a chance to think of what is important. This week’s addition is a simple little page with a big wish that ties up all that is important to me.

To spend a season on Martha’s Vineyard, Thanksgiving all the way through New Years tucked up with the family. Spending our time together at farmer’s markets, preserving yummy things, baking, and crafting special home made gifts for each other with lots of long walks on the beaches making extra special memories.

It’s All About

Fabulous Natasha Burns is hosting a very special swap party for very special guest with a fun twist.

We all love crafting and creating especially for someone special in our lives, but this time, the gift is supposed to be for us, who is often the last person our list.

I had the best fun with this theme which of course you know I needed to start a new altered book.

A few months ago our family had a frightful time, everyone is on the mend now but as a result my daughter said we all had to start working on our bucket list as a way of focusing on positive plans for the future.

I started writing my list in this darling little book but after posting pics of ideas, next thing you know we were bursting at the seams and a perfect excuse to start altering.

It was kind of hard to stop and leave room on the pages for the photo and notes about when we get to do these fun things.

Some of my plans include spending time on
Cape York working on the sea turtle rescue and rehab projects and attending Silver Bella, a crafting girl’s dream date.

Chipboard from
Tattered Angels Nature Collection and the huge compass stamp is from their Tattered Traveller range.

Thank you Natasha for hosting this swap party it is starting out to be very special project.
One swap I would really like to participate in would be for the British postage stamps with the bright red post boxes. Just perfect for someone who loves a bit of postal and altered art. If you are interested in a swap, drop me an email.

Touching Nature

“Have a heart that never hardens,
a temper that never tires,
a touch that never hurts."
Charles Dickens

Had to pull off a busy road to enjoy this beautiful view early one morning, knowing that fans of
Sky Watch Friday would love the peaceful quiet moment.

The cows were up and moving but this little wallaby woke up with a fright when I nearly stepped on it in the grass.

One of my favorite Altered Books.
