Bridges and dreams

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, if one advances confidently in the direction of one's dreams and endeavours to live the life which one has imagined one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours” Henry David Thoreau
Modern transportation requirements will see the end of this little bridge shortly. It is a much loved little local landmark on a back road short cut that many a family has appreciated the tiny one car at a time route that forced us all to stop to wait for each other to pass over with friendly waves to say thanks.

And thanks to our hosts of Sky Watch Friday, organising the hundreds of bloggers from all over sharing their own views of the horizon.   Quick hot links to give-aways for great books hosted by fabulous bloggers at Katherine's Old Boat Shed Woolloongabba and Sarah at the Beach Cottage
Posting some sneak peeks into some of the creations out of our Mistified adventure, there was so much to play with and really enjoyed sharing the experience with other excited crafters.

Hi, Mandy! Love your story today about the bridge. Sometimes "progress" isn't really so terrific. So many times we are all in too much of a rush, it is nice to have a moment to stop and enjoy the beauty around us.

I like the thought that you are forced to slow down and say hello - I think the whole world would benefit from more of these bridges. xo

I am saddened by the loss of an old one lane bridge. Too bad it can't be left behind for foot traffic and a new one built beside.

I love old bridges! Too bad we always want to move towards progress. When it comes to finding a cure for some ailment, I'm all for it, but if it involves the destruction of an old bridge, well.... then not so much.

I've seen so many little quaint bridges go the wayside. It is the stop and waves that make life more down to earth. It's sad.
Great shot however!

That is so sad that the little bridge who gave a person who passed by to stop a while and enjoy life have come to an end. :(

so sad when things that ensure that we slow down and appreciate the moment, the connections with each other and the world we live in are replaced with something that pushes us through so fast we miss our life! Beautiful photo.

Hi Mandy!
Oh... I hate to see sweet things like that bridge go to the "needs of modern transportation." I wish there were another way~
Lovely tribute to the bridge,
